What is BIDM and whom does it serve?

BIDM (Bombay Institution for Deaf & Mutes) is a 140 year old school dedicated to educating deaf-mute students from underprivileged backgrounds. We provide not just education but also essential resources to help these children thrive.

How does BIDM support hearing-impaired children?

We offer specialized teaching methods tailored to students with hearing impairments. Additionally, we provide hearing aids, speech therapy, and skill training programs to ensure holistic development.

Why does BIDM need donations?

While BIDM receives only some government funding, which only covers basic expenses. Donations allow us to provide modern teaching tools, essential additional staff like an onsite audiologist, speech therapist and a counselor. In addition we also conduct skill development programs for students and teachers. Donations are thus vital to fund additional resources necessary for our students' success.

Our students face unique challenges in speech development and learning due to their hearing and speech impairments. Many also come from low-income families, requiring additional support for educational and personal growth.
